I have so much to tell you all. Really. Like, how ’bout how I shared a chocolate cocktail with MaryJanice Davidson? Or had my piccie taken with Charlaine Harris? Or how my “entourage” was the loudest at the Australian Romance Readers Association’s award dinner (and as a consequence, I probably won’t be allowed back next year? *grin*)
Yeah, I gots lots to share and I’m going to do so over the next few days. Ready?
Today, let’s start with a pictoial rundown of RT2010…
So the first piccie I have to share with you is me and MaryJanice Davidson. A little background of this image: I’d been to the Vampire Ball. I was dressed like a slutty vampire. My very lovely friend, Renee George (see piccies below) came and grabbed me and took me outside to meet MJ. Of course, what does every fangirl want to be dressed as when meeting their idol? A slutty vampire? Noo. But you know what, MaryJanice Davidson is so totally awesome and amazing she didn’t care at all about what I was wearing. In face, she shared a chocolate cocktail with me a little after this photo was taken, so maybe I should dress as a slutty vampire more often *grin*
This is me and Bek Lyness, the most totally brilliant Aussie bookseller from Australia. Okay, it’s Melbourne, Australia but I won’t hold that against her (that’s a little Aussie inside joke. Sorry. Bek will give me hell for it. Probably Tez Miller too. Heya, girls *wink*). Bek and I had more fun than we probably should driving the American’s crazy with our Aussie accents and lingo. On my second last day in the US, Bek and I went to the local mall and really went crazy. There’s probably some poor sales assistants requiring Australian-aversion therapy after we finished with them 🙂
Next, we have me and Renee George. Renee and I go way back. She is one of the most wonderful people I’ve ever had the good fortune to call friend. She’s guided me through most of my writing career and I love her to bits. And she’s a bloody talented author as well. Renee is responsible for me meeting MJD, Dakota Cassidy, Michele Bardsley, Mark Henry, Heather Osbourne, Jim McCarthy and Terri Smythe (who cracked me up just about every time we were together). I played Rockband Hero with all of them but Jim McCarthy and MJD until 1am Wednesday (or should that be Thursday) until hotel security came and told us to shut up.
Renee held my hand often during the wee hours of RT2010 and if I could I’d hug her again right now. As you can see by the piccie, Renee is uber special to me and I can’t wait to see her again next year at RT2011 (yep, I’m going to be there. Yay!)
Now, onto the International Heat ladies. Well, you all know how special the IHers are to me. Mari Carr, Jayne Rylon and Valerie Tibbs were more than just company to this little Aussie in the US; they were my family. So, what does family do when a reunion’s taking place? Take photos, lots of photos. Here are my favs…
Next, I have to introduce you to my Ellora’s Cave editor, Kelli Collins. If I worship anyone in my life, it’s probably Kelli. She is brutally truthful, a mad Chuck fan, loves Dr Who, Firefly and my writing. Anyone that loves my writing is okay with me, but Kelli will tell me when it sucks and I know she still loves it (even when it’s atrocious). Without Kelli, I wouldn’t be an EC author, nor believe in myself the way I do. Kelli, you are gorgeous and I love you 🙂 This is Kelli and I at the Ellora’s Cave Paint the Town Red ball. The fact Kelli didn’t wear red makes me love her even more.
Now of course, I’ve left one photo until last. And you’ll see why. Any Sookie Stackhouse fans out there? True Blood? Well, here’s a photo of me and Charlaine Harris. Can you see how totally in awe of me she is? Yes, I really am that silly (and yes, that’s really her behind me. The most awesome Terri Smythe invited me to the Charlaine’s Charlaton’s Lunch and she sat at the table next to me!! Even came over and said hello (although she was exhausted after signing about a billion books at the book fair. Hmmm, speaking of book fair, I’m missing some photos. Damn. Where are they? Err, anyways…)
So, there’s my kinda pictorial wrap-up of RT. There are so many moments I didn’t capture on film (I mean my iphone) and many more I shall take to the grave. Suffice to say, I had the most awesome time and I want to thank everyone who shared it with me. You lot really are brilliant.
