Ooh, bet you thought I wasn’t going to make today’s schedule, didn’t you. Well, I’m here with six hours to spare *whew*
Going to share an excerpt from my erotic sci-fi/fantasy, The Sun Sword, but first, I have to squee about some reviews its received (they’re good ones, hense the squeeing :-P)
Firstly, Holly gives The Sun Sword not only FIVE CHERRIES but a BEST BOOK AWARD aswell! She says of Torrin and Kala’s tale…”If you want a romance that keeps you one the edge, makes you cry and sigh, and takes you to new worlds, I highly recommend The Sun Sword.” You can check out the entire (amazing review here).
MerryLee over at Fallen Angels Reviews says The Sun Sword is intriguing and “I found the premise surrounding the prophesy very intriguing. The plot’s twists and turns really held my attention, and the main characters, particularly Torrin, tugged at my heart. Torrin is stalwart, proud and honorable. Kala is vulnerable, but stubborn and obviously used to doing things her way. And as for Ms. Couper’s truly nasty villain, I wanted to kill the remorseless blackguard myself!” Hee, thanks, MerryLee (Read the entire review here)
Now, on with the excerpt. Be warned, it’s a naughty one…
She has the power to bring new life…or utterly destroy it.
Torin Kerridon, the last warrior from an ancient order, is drawn to an abandoned, dying Earth, where he finds a forgotten young woman. A woman forged by the Immortals to wield the ultimate weapon—the Sun Sword. A woman capable of commanding the power of the suns. A woman with no past and no memory, the body of an angel and the spirit of a demon. He will train her. Prepare her.
Hunted all her life, Kala Rei has endured more than one woman should. Sheer grit, and a dangerous skill with a lead pipe, are the key to her survival. But nothing threatens her sense of safety more than dominance-oozing Torin. He wants her, but not for what’s between her legs. For what he believes her to be—some ludicrous savior from some absurd prophecy. No matter…his offer to take her away from Earth is too good to refuse.
But when a savage desire begins to burn between them, both Torin and Kala are in danger—and so are the worlds of man.
Warning: This book contains an ancient prophecy that can’t be denied, a brooding hero tormented by desire, a stubborn woman who hungers for his touch, a villain so vile you’ll want to kill him yourself and sex so hot it’ll melt the suns of the known universes…and then some.
Torin’s mouth journeyed her lips, branding them with infinite care, before he explored her jaw, her throat. He coaxed her onto her back with delicious pressure from his lips and she surrendered completely to his will. She stretched beneath him, her hands skimming his shoulders, down his back, over the blazing sun tattooed there, to his hips and back up again. “Please,” she begged, her throat too tight for the word to be anything more than a whisper.
He lifted his head and gazed at her, his face solemn. “What, Kala?” His eyes seemed incandescent in the training room’s muted light. “Please, don’t ask me to stop because I can not. There is not a force strong enough in all the worlds to stop me making love to you.”
She gave him a level look, struggling to constrain the urgent ache in her core. “I am asking you to stop, Torin.” Sliding her hand up his arm, she caressed the hard curve of his shoulder, charting its firm muscles, exploring its latent strength. Everything about him spoke of power and brute force and it made her feel weak and strong at once.
His strength was hers. He’d given it to her in his passion, his desire and she wanted to give it back to him. Tenfold.
He shook his head, a stubborn denial pinching the side of his eyes. And a fear she recognized all too well. The fear of losing something so precious it was barely believed possible. “Please,” he growled and she smiled, his very echo of her own plea filling her with a happiness she could no more understand than explain.
“There is something I need to do, Sol,” she murmured, moving her hand to his neck. The rapid beat of his pulse danced beneath her fingertips, quickening her own, before she pressed her fingers flat to the side of his face. “Something that needs to be done.”
The stubble on his cheeks and jaw scratched at her palm, heightening the pleasure rolling through her. Why, she didn’t know. Maybe it was because she’d seen its prickling shadow many times before but had never felt it. To look at, the growth made him appear more menacing than facial hair should, but to touch…
A soft shudder claimed her body and she groaned. To touch, it was a confirmation of everything her heart knew to be true. He was strong and forceful and deadly, but with her, he was capable of softness beyond belief.
But now, now she wanted him hard.
She shifted beneath him, pushing him from her body. His eyes flashed with that same brittle fear she understood, but he did not offer any resistance. A low chuckle bubbled up her throat. That he didn’t fight her made her love him more. She knew how much he wanted to sink into her heat and fill her and yet he didn’t. He didn’t protest. He let her rule him. She smiled, holding his gaze with hers as she rolled him onto his back. He had spoken at great length about trust during their training, and now he was showing his ultimate trust of her.
She looked down into his face and brushed her lips over his. “There is something I want to do.”
Before he could ask her what, she straddled his legs, her thighs hugging his calves. Her gaze moved to his shaft and another groan rumbled up her throat.
He was hard. Hard and long and thick. And ready.
As was she.
